Art Glass by Christopher Morrison

One of the early entrants to the Northwest glass scene, Christopher Morrison first studied at The Pilchuck School in 1983 where he studied with Bertil Vallien. He received his B.A. in Art from Hartwick College in 1984. Morrison then returned to Pilchuck in 1985 to study with Jon Eric Ritzman and Amy Roberts, and again in 1990 when he studied with Robert Carlson. He has worked at several major glass blowing facilities including Tom Philabaum Glass Studios in Tucson and Chihuly, Inc. in Seattle. Wanting to share his knowledge and experience with glass enthusiasts, Christopher Morrison began instructing glass blowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle in 1992. He then pioneered the educational program at Seattle Glassblowing Studio before building his own studio.

Christopher Morrison innovatively explores the sculptural possibilities in glass. His art reflects his bond with color, pattern and form. Christopher's commitment is to create beauty through his art, which features unique formations in glass combined with pristine production techniques. His work spans a wide range from wild lobster claw heliconia to classical glass vessels to water fountains and other sculptural installations that are playful with a note of majesty. His latest "Talisman" series captures the essence of those mythical figures that produce extraordinary effects in the ordinary world through the alignment of their patterns with the spiritual world.
